When the other party asks for more than you are willing to give, tell them you are unable to pay more or do more than what you have already offered. Show them you seriously want to make the deal happen, but just can’t give them any more.
This can be a good way to turn down an offer if you decide you do not want the deal to go through, and you know the only way that it will is if you meet the other party’s price. You may also gain sympathy so they will not persist that you give them what they want.
Example
Everyone in America can is inundated by annoying sales tactics on a regular basis. They come in so many forms these days. From the constant credit card applications in the mail, to the telemarketer and the door to door salesman, these marketers want to you to buy what they’re selling.
One of the most annoying sales tactics I frequently run into are the middle of the mall kiosks. Usually these tiny booths set-up between stores are selling junk at ridiculously high prices. The worst of its type is what I call “the claw.” Creepy men try to attack you with what look like a metal claw so they can give you a scalp massage. There are so many things wrong with this scenario. For one thing, I don’t want some dirty metal device that has touched who knows how many other heads to be in my hair, and I defiantly don’t want some scary mall employee to put it there!
A way to fight off these sales tactics is to initially feign interest, and then ask how much for the product or service. Acted shocked when they disclose the cost and tell them you only have few bucks to your name, but you wish you could afford XYZ! They will let you go free without persisting that you accept their one-of-a-kind offer.
