Fame

Illustrate to the other party how what you are offering will create fame or high regard amongst their peers. The opinions of others are important to most people, some more than others. If you can play on this need to be known and liked, you may be able to get the other person to do things they otherwise would not.

You could also reverse this approach to show how if the other party does not comply with your demands, their reputation will be damaged and they will be ridiculed by others.

Example

The goal of some modeling agencies is not to find their clients work, but to sell them an overpriced portfolio. In these agencies, virtually anyone can walk into an office and hear from an agent that they will become a star. Of course, first they must fork over mucho mullah for the photos.

These so-called modeling agencies play on the fact that the people walking through the doors actually believe that they will be the next big thing. Some people are desperate to “be discovered” and they will listen to anyone who tells them what they want to hear, including paying for someone that should be provided free of charge. In reality, an agency that sees real talent will probably be willing to fork over the cash themselves in order to promote their client.
